The Flat Season
Even though there has been some racing on the flat over in Ireland and at Redcar the season starts in earnest at the weekend with the Lincoln meeting.

I have already backed Battle of Marathon EW for the Lincoln itself at 33s.

A lot of money has come for locally based horse Lord of the land but the price has now gone.

Another I may have a nibble on is Mutarakez.

Further afield I have already backed Emotionless for the 2000 Guineas at 14/1 altho Air Force Blue is a rock solid favourite. Buratino also catches the eye and Mark Johnstons horses have been flying on the all weather. Did anyone manage to catch his horses that won last Friday/Saturday, looked some right machines in there.

As for the 1000Gs I have backed Lumeire but again the price has gone.

Any thoughts gents?

Yup I'm up for Emotionless for the 2000G's... backed it in the Dewhurst and it deffo had a problem (been sorted supposedly)... before that race looked a real real horse...

Postponed is gonna win a lot of the middle distance races this year... he looked an absolute monster in Meydan

Re: The Flat Season
Considering Postponed has won a KG in the slop for him to go over to a fast Meydan track and stuff

2. Duramente - Dual Jap Derby and Guineas' winner over £3m won

3. Last Impact - Japan Cup Winner over £2.5m won

4. Highland Reel - Gr 1's in the US and Hong Kong over £1.6m won

5. One & Only - Jap Derby winner over £2.5m won

... is probably some of the best form you will see all year I reckon... be interesting how they campaign him ... got to be looking Arc surely??

Re: The Flat Season
I like it to watch when the conditions improve.

The first meeting at Redcar was pretty awful unless you like watching horses sinking in quicksand.

Expecting a lot better again from Godolphin this year.

jonthehammer 3:35 Wed Mar 30
Re: The Flat Season
Godolphin are enlisting John Ferguson this year who is giving up his jumps licence to concentrate on the flat.

They also have had far less runners than normal on the AW as they are lining up big things on the turf, so you are probably right Grumps.

The Sunday forum boys on ATR's were absolute scathing regarding Buick's ride on Tryster at Meydan...

Will be interesting to see how Fran Berry does this season.

Best person to ask is Grumps I suppose

Re: The Flat Season
Chapulla was one, Boater another.

Sutter County I think was the third.

There is another one as well who is apparently equally as good and holds some good entries.

I will post the name when i remember it.

Is he riding in England this year HH?

I'm not a big fan of the Irish racing, as O'Brien is so dominant that it's a bit boring.

Do well over here will Berry and always a shame Smullen has Weld, as would love him here, as head and shoulders the best in Ireland.

I like Berry. he rode a couple of winners when I went to a meeting in Killarney. flat and jumps that night so also saw Davey Russell up close

Re: The Flat Season
Just seen he's been made the stable jockey for Beckett, that's fucking quality. One of my favourite trainers is Ralph and I was a little gutted when Crowley left him.

Re: The Flat Season
Cheers Grumps will look out for his rides over the season, he many even pick up a few spares.

Am a massive fan of Smullen, he got me a couple of winners last week at Dundalk when I was bored ironing watching ATR.

Davy Russell is worth backing blind at Cheltenham a couple of winners and places.
